Here are all of the beer label approvals since my last update (mid-January).  I'm not sure when these beers are being released, so check with the brewery before you go out looking for them! 902 Brewing :  902 Brewing's American Pale Ale called Pale Ale True Hobo (PATH) received keg approval.  It is clearly stated on the keg that the beer is brewed at Climax Brewing for 902 Brewing.  It is 37 IBUs (from their website, ABV between 5-6%).  902 Brewing also had keg approval for Heaven Hell or Hobo , their American IPA.  According to the label, it is 68 IBUs (from their website, 6.5% ABV). Howdy all!  It's been a few weeks since I've sent out an update on new NJ beers coming to the market.  This week, we also have meads!  Check em all out, and enjoy! First, we have two meads from newly opened Melovino Meadery in Vauxhall, NJ.  Melo Evil is a sweet honey wine with ghost peppers added, and it comes in at 12% ABV.  Pirum Lust is a 13% ABV honey wine that is made with spiced pear juice, and is meant to be consumed during the cooler months. From Cherry Hill, we see the label for Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing's Funnel Cake Boardwalk Ale. Cape May Brewing Company had a ton of keg labels approved.  Here we see the keg label for Geek Out Ale.  Other kegs approved were Ashley's Ale, Andrew's Ale, Justin's Ale, Steve's Ale, Richie's Ale, Hi-Flyer Ale, Double Marker Ale, Crows Nest Ale, Cornelius Mey Ale, Crusty Barnacle Ale, Queen Street Ale, and Concrete Ship Ale. Upcoming NJ Beers - as of 09/19/14

There are some awesome new beers coming to NJ (eventually!).  This week we have the can label for Carton Brewing's Epitome, which is an Imperial Black Ale.  Coming in at 10.3%, it is a dark, bitter beer!  I had a growler of this last year, and it knocked my socks off it was so good.  Packaging will be in 16 oz. cans. Flying Fish has had the label approved for another Exit Series beer.  For this release, they traveled down to Exit 3 and brewed up a Blueberry Braggot.  Like Epitome, this beer is no slouch, and comes in at 15% ABV.  Packaging will be in the 1 pint 9.4 fl. oz. bottles, so bring a friend to share! Next, we have 2 keg labels from Flounder Brewing.  One is for a pumpkin saison (!!), and the other is for their pumpkin ale, which they are calling Floundering Pumpkin Ale.  I'm looking forward to stopping by their brewery when they have more hours for tours/tastings/growlers to try these! Last, but certainly not least, Angr...

Upcoming NJ Beers - as of 08/30/14

This week, we have 1 new bottle label and the rest are keg labels. ... The bottle label is from River Horse Brewing (Ewing, NJ) and is for their IPA.  I originally thought this would be just a rebranding of their Hop Hazard Pale Ale, but it looks like to be a completely new recipe.  I love the label artwork for the bottles. Angry Erik Brewing (Lafayette, NJ) had keg labels for Summit Up (an IPA), Dubbel Blade (an abbey dubbel ale) and Fika (a sweet stout). Kane Brewing  (Ocean Twp, NJ) had a keg label approval for their 3rd anniversary beer, One Thousand Ninety Five.   Flounder Brewing (Hillsborough, NJ) had sixtel label approvals for their Hill Street Honey Ale and Saison du Flounder.

Updates on NJ Breweries (June 2014)

It is only June, but 2014 has already been a huge year of growth for the NJ beer industry.  In my last update on the state of beer in NJ, I highlighted 4 new breweries: Bolero Snort Brewery, the new Iron Hill in Voorhees, Flounder Brewing and Village Idiot Brewing.  Since then, beer is now being brewed at Hearthstone Grill, Angry Erik, Glasstown, Rinn Duin and Pinelands Brewing.  Let's look at these in a little more depth! March 7th Blogshare!

Here are some great articles to ponder over on this Friday.  Hopefully your weekend is in sight! 1.  The team who run the blog I Drink Good Beer put out some great content.  A few days ago they posted this article where they visit Angry Erik Brewing, one of NJ's newest breweries.  Those pictures are making me thirsty!  Can't wait to visit Angry Erik myself! 2.  Chicago based blog Guys Drinking Beer love doing verticals.  They recently posted their notes on a 5-year vertical they did with Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout ('09-'13).  You should check out their other verticals while you're over on their page! 3.  When I first saw the press release for Stone Brewing 's Go To IPA, I had to check my calender to make sure it wasn't April Fool's Day.  They already had their fairly low alcohol Levitation Ale.  Also, I figured if they brewed another low alcohol beer, it would have an edgier name than Go To IPA.  Either way, here ...

New Breweries for the Garden State in 2013

2013 was an excellent and exciting year for beer in New Jersey.  We saw the opening of 4 new breweries as well as approvals in 4 other breweries who didn't quite have enough time to open in 2013.  Let's take a look at the new breweries and see what they will be offering to us thirsty beer fans! The array of Bolero Snort beers (photo courtesy of Bolero Snort) Bolero Snort Brewery :  Launched their beers in late February 2013.  They started out with two beers, Ragin' Bull  (an amber lager)   and Blackhorn (an American black lager).  Later in 2013, they added a 3rd flagship, There's No Rye-ing in Basebull (a rye ale) and also released a winter seasonal, Gingerbull Cookie (a brown ale brewed with spices).  In order to provide a wider spectrum of beers to their fans, they like to prepare what they call #BSTreatments.  If you follow their Facebook or Twitter, you might be lucky enough to find the treatments in the wild, and ge...
