It may be well into November, but there are still some pumpkins beer in my fridge waiting to be consumed.  As part of their Brewers' Select Series, the brewers at Weyerbacher made Aries , a blend of their Old Heathen Imperial Stout and Imperial Pumpkin Ale.  Both are mighty tasty on their own, so I was definitely excited to try this one out. Aries in all its glory Aries pours black with a light brown, finger width head.  Most of the aroma seems to come from the Imperial Pumpkin Ale side of things.  Lots of autumn spice.  Upfront, the flavor in Aries is all Imperial Pumpkin.  However, as you swallow, you can start tasting some smooth chocolate flavors from Old Heathen.  It all comes together nicely.  If you see this one around anywhere, and you're in the mood for some autumn spice with a bit of stout thrown in, give it a try! Hey everyone, I hope a great weekend was had by all!  Kerry and I spent most of the weekend just relaxing.  To be honest, with my new smartphone, I discovered the game Temple Run 2, and I get incredibly addicted to these types of games.  So yea, I had planned on getting a lot of reading and cleaning done, but I ended up spending a lot of time unlocking achievements in Temple Run!  I did end up finishing Joshua Bernstein's Brewed Awakening .  Brewed Awakening is a unique beer book that takes a look at the current state of beer in America and beyond.   Blue Moon Impulse, Vintage Ale Collection  This past Christmas, my brother-in-law David got Kerry and me a bottle of Impulse from Blue Moon Brewing (who I believe is an arm of Tenth and Blake Beer Company, who is in turn an arm of MillerCoors).  I have never had one of Blue Moon's large bottle series beers, so I'm excited to try this one.  The bottle describes Impulse as "a wheat a...

Tonight I decided to review Atlantic Brewing Company's Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale. According to Atlantic Brewing Company's website , their addition of blueberries to this ale only adds a "subtle blueberry aroma without the sweet aftertaste."  I am hoping this rings true, because if there's one thing that turns me off of a beer, is if that beer is a fruit-bomb.  Going into this beer with an open mind.... Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale poured into my Ithaca Beer Co. pub glass a light amber, copper color with a finger width head.  Smells primarily of blueberry, with a little bit of caramel and bread, but not much.  Tastes a mix of blueberry and light malts.  Very little sweetness!  Quite a bit of carbonation on the tongue, but a very light mouthfeel.  Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale is an easy drinking, refreshing beer.  I am pleasantly surprised with this beer.  Going into it, I tried to keep an open mind, but I really didn't think I would like it. ...
