Hey everyone!  Thanks for coming by.  I'm super glad we finally reached Friday!  This morning we woke up to a surprising 5 inches of snow on the ground.  We were supposed to have gotten the snow the night before, so it was around 24 hours late!  Tonight, Kerry and I are sharing a bottle of Birra Etrusca Bronze from Dogfish Head.  This is one of their Ancient Ales, and is based off of chemical evidence taken from jars found near tombs in Tuscany.  The evidence dates back to the 8th century B.C.  Let's give this one a try! Hey everyone, thanks for coming by these parts.  This whole week the temperature in NJ hasn't been higher than 25F, and at night we are usually in single digits.  Now, this may not be a big deal if you are in Maine or Canada or Alaska, but we haven't seen this kind of weather in awhile.  Not that I'm complaining, I kind of like it, so I'm just making an observation.  I'm going to take advantage of this cold weather tonight and enjoy a winter warmer. Harpoon has been brewing their Winter Warmer since 1988.  It took me awhile for that year to really settle in.  1988.  I was only 7 years old when Harpoon first started brewing this beer.  2 years after the Mets beat the Red Sox in the World Series.  I love thinking of the early days of "craft" brewing, and how it must have been to convince the American public to buy something they didn't know they wanted just yet.  Harpoon has decided to up their ante, and will be opening a brand new 30...

Yards Brewing Company's Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce is part of Yards' Ales of the Revolution series of beers.  According to their website, it was first brewed to commemorate Ben Franklin's 300th birthday, and is based on Ben Franklin's original recipe.  Yards has an awesome bar at their brewery, where you can buy pints or flights of their great lineup of beers, and enjoy drinking them with an incredible view into the brewhouse. Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce Poured from a 12 oz bottle, 5% ABV Appearance :  Pours a medium brown color (looks darker than it is in the picture), with a small head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma :  I'm getting mostly a sweet, sweet caramel smell.  A little bit of spruce. Taste :  Similar to the aroma, quite sweet, caramel, and definitely some spruce Mouthfeel :   Heavy carbonation at first, but it's quickly overpowered by the beer.  Medium heaviness.
