Beer Digest III: New Belgium Lips of Faith Heavenly Feijoa, 21st Amendment Hop Crisis, North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout

Hey everyone, hope you had a great weekend!  I tried some great beers the last few days.  Without further adieu, here are the one's that were really memorable. New Belgium / Dieu du Ciel! Heavenly Feijoa Heavenly Feijoa New Belgium / Dieu du Ciel! Belgian tripel with feijoa and hibiscus 9% ABV I was excited to try out the Heavenly Feijoa.  This was my first time trying one of New Belgium's Lips of Faith beers (since they don't distribute to NJ yet), and also my first time trying a beer from Dieu du Ciel!, a brewery out of Montreal.  I also didn't know what a feijoa was.  Consulting Google and Wikipedia, I learned feijoa is also known as pineapple guava and guavasteen.  The beer itself was very fruity (in aroma and flavor), but not overly sweet.  The fruit flavors blended quite well with the malt and hops.  I didn't taste much of the classic Belgian yeast character in this beer.  Overall, quite unique and quite good. 2...

Blue Moon Brewing Impulse

Hey everyone, I hope a great weekend was had by all!  Kerry and I spent most of the weekend just relaxing.  To be honest, with my new smartphone, I discovered the game Temple Run 2, and I get incredibly addicted to these types of games.  So yea, I had planned on getting a lot of reading and cleaning done, but I ended up spending a lot of time unlocking achievements in Temple Run!  I did end up finishing Joshua Bernstein's Brewed Awakening .  Brewed Awakening is a unique beer book that takes a look at the current state of beer in America and beyond.   Blue Moon Impulse, Vintage Ale Collection  This past Christmas, my brother-in-law David got Kerry and me a bottle of Impulse from Blue Moon Brewing (who I believe is an arm of Tenth and Blake Beer Company, who is in turn an arm of MillerCoors).  I have never had one of Blue Moon's large bottle series beers, so I'm excited to try this one.  The bottle describes Impulse as "a wheat a...

Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout Nitro

Hey everyone!  Thanks for coming by!  Last week, Kerry and I both got new smartphones.  We both had smartphones for the last two years, but the phones eventually lost much of their functionality and slowed down so much that using the internet and apps was more trouble than they were worth.  We were so excited to get our new phones, and are slowly starting to use a lot of the apps we couldn't use before.  I can now check in to beers on my phone again using Untappd ( add me here ), and have started using Instagram (username MouldsBeerBlog)!  I wish I could also view my Instagram feed on my computer.  I'm sure there's a plug-in I could find somewhere that would let me do that. Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout Nitro  Tonight I am drinking Left Hand Brewing Company's Milk Stout Nitro.  Left Hand worked hard to develop a method of bottling their nitrogen infused milk stout, and they did it without the use of a widget, which is used in canned Gu...
