Another beer I picked up on my trip to Virginia was DC Brau's The Citizen.  Right on the can The Citizen proclaims itself as a "Belgian-Style Pale."  If I had had more time on my trip, I would have loved to have visited DC Brau's brewery, but alas, it will have to wait until next time.  This is my first DC Brau brew, and I can't wait to try it out.  Let's see how The Citizen pours... DC Brau The Citizen Belgian-Style Pale Ale The Citizen DC Brau Belgian-style Pale Ale 7% ABV 12 oz. can poured into my Ithaca Beer pub glass DC Brau The Citizen Belgian-Style Pale Ale DC Brau's The Citizen pours pale gold in color, with a finger and half width of white head.  The head subsides fairly quickly, and doesn't leave much lacing.  Lots of carbonation is visible rising from the bottom of the glass.  There is tons of citrus in the aroma of The Citizen.  Lemon, orange, grapefruit.  A bit of a yeasty aroma is present as well. ...

Hey everyone!  Another beer I picked up while visiting NJ Beer Co. was their 1787 Abbey Single Ale.  At the brewery, they allow you to mix a 6 pack of their beers, and I picked up 2 of these.  There aren't many abbey singles that I see around, but I'm assuming it will be similar to a Belgian-style pale ale.  Let's check this beer out! Abbey Single / Belgian-style Pale Ale 4.8% ABV 12 oz. bottle poured into my Victory tulip    NJ Beer Co. 1787 Abbey Single Ale 1787 Abbey Single Ale poured a light yellow/amber color with minimal head, no lacing on the glass, and visible, small carbonation bubbles.  The aroma is composed of lemon, yeast and a hint of earthiness.  The aroma is also full of citrus, mainly lemon.  As it warms up, a bit of clove and earthiness comes in to the flavor.  The beer started out with a high carbonation, but it quickly...

Happy Thursday and thanks for coming by the blog.  The last few days were pretty busy for beer fans around the country.  Yesterday, 12-12-12, marked the culmination of Stone Brewing's Vertical Epic series, as well as the special release of Westvleteren XII in select beer stores around the country.  I didn't partake in either of these special events.  For me, it was just business as usual, and enjoyed the beers I already had on hand.  Did you get some Westy XII or go to a Stone Vertical event?  Tell me about it in the comments, I'd like to know!
