Hey everyone, thanks for coming by!   Kerry and I were recently near Hudson/Bergen County, so we decided to check out New Jersey Beer Co. (NJBC) in North Bergen.  NJBC will soon be celebrating their third anniversary!  I can't believe it has taken us this long to stop in and check things out!   Entrance to New Jersey Beer Co. On tap at NJBC was their core lineup plus a winter seasonal.  The core lineup of beers are 1787 Abbey Single Ale, Garden State Stout and Hudson Pale Ale.  The winter seasonal, and my personal favorite, was the Weehawken Wee Heavy.  All visitors to the brewery are allowed a 4 oz. taster of each beer and a tour of their small brewery.  All of their beers were pleasing, and would appeal to a large audience of beer drinkers.   Taps at New Jersey Beer Co.   Thanks to the recent law that was passed by NJ government, NJ breweries may now sell pints of beer in their taprooms!  NJBC was sell...

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping in!  After all of the Christmas festivities this year, Kerry and I decided to take a small trip out to Hershey, PA.  We planned on seeing the winter lights at Hershey Park and visiting the new Troegs brewery.  We took Rte 76 West, and couldn't help but notice a few billboards for the Stoudts brewpub, and instantly decided to stop in to Stoudts on the way home from Hershey.  On the way home I also wanted to stop in at Victory Brewing Co. to see if we could score some Red Thunder and Oak Horizontal.  On Thursday we dropped our cats off at Kerry's parents house, had some lunch, and hit the road!  We stuck to the main highways, taking 476 S to 76 W.  It was an easy and surprisingly short trip.  We made it to our hotel in Hershey in roughly 2 hours (which would have been even shorter if we hadn't taken a detour to try and find a Sheetz we saw from th...

Visiting Atlantic Brewing Company during our visit to Bar Harbor, Maine was a must-do.  We chose a day that was supposed to have a higher chance of rain, just because there is so many outdoor things to do in the Bar Harbor area.  A few miles driving down Rte 3 from our hotel and we were there... We parked in the gravel lot behind the small building that holds the brewery.  The grounds of Atlantic Brewing Company are pretty awesome.  In the picture to the left, you can see the gift shop, which is actually where they hold the beer tastings after the brewery tour.  They also sell all of their bottled beers there, and other swag like pint glasses, shirts, stickers, and mustard made with their beer. It had been awhile since my wife Kerry and I had gone to visit a new brewery (at least new to us), so we decided to ring in September with a trip to Captain Lawrence Brewing Company's new brewery in Elmsford, NY.  Captain Lawrence had originally been located in Pleasantville, NY since 2006, but with the growing need to expand, moved into the Elmsford facility and began brewing beer in late 2011/early 2012. This was the first time we went to a brewery's tasting room and had to show our ID and get a wristband from a bouncer!  We were thinking it may be because of the close proximity to NYC, or maybe it just shows how popular with the locals this brewery is getting.  To get into the taproom, we paid $2 each, and got a Captain Lawrence tasting glass to use in the tasting room, and we got to bring it home!  The bouncer suggested we bring it back the next time we come to the brewery.  I'm guessing we would still have to pay the $2 though, which I will gladly do. ...

My wife and I decided to take a trip into Easton, PA after reading on Weyerbacher's website what their awesome tap selections would be that weekend.  Weyerbacher is one of my favorite breweries to visit.  They always have a good selection of their beers on tap for samples, and they even open up some of their special series bottles to give samples of too.  You can buy growlers, kegs, and bottles of whichever beers they have available.  They also sell lots of swag like t-shirts, hats, and beer glasses.  I hear they are working on getting the approval from the PLCB to sell pints in their Visitor's Center.  Can't wait for that!
