Beer Digest II: Sly Fox Grisette, Flying Fish FU Sandy, Weyerbacher Eighteen

Happy Friday!  Hope you're all having a great summer, full of lots of great craft beer!  It has been a busy summer of beer here in NJ, with lots of great news and events.  I attended a summer cask fest at Uno Chicago Grill in Metuchen, where lots of great cask beer was had by all.  Some of the participating breweries were Bolero Snort , Kane Brewing , Carton Brewing , Climax Brewing and of course the brewery at Uno Chicago Grill . Some other news, a few weeks ago I joined the great team over at New Jersey Craft Beer  as a regional representative.  New Jersey Craft Beer aims to provide craft beer fans in New Jersey with a resource for finding current beer happenings.  They also have a membership club, where members can save money at 310+ participating businesses in and around New Jersey.  I will periodically mention and talk about New Jersey Craft Beer here, such as recaps of events the group participates in.   Here are some beers I'...

Sly Fox Odyssey Imperial IPA

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping in!  Glad it's Friday?  Me too!  Tonight I am drinking another canned offering from Sly Fox Brewing Company out of Pottstown, PA.  It is their Odyssey Imperial IPA.  On the can, the label says that each year the Sly Fox brewers "select their favorite and newly discovered hops to create a big, bold Imperial IPA."  I suppose then that the recipe on this beer changes a bit from year to year.  I like that!  Let's crack this can open...   Sly Fox Odyssey Imperial IPA   Odyssey  Sly Fox Brewing Company Imperial IPA 8.4% ABV 90 IBUs 12 oz. can poured into Victory Brewing tulip glass Sly Fox Odyssey Imperial IPA Odyssey Imperial IPA pours a beautiful golden amber color with a two finger width white head.  There is extravagant lacing, and the beer looks clear (filtered).  As soon as the beer was poured, I got a whiff of grassy hops, but before long, the aroma was gone...

Sly Fox Christmas Ale

Ahoy everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend, and are ready for the mid-season finale of the Walking Dead!  The season has been building up to this point, the showdown between the Governor and Rick, as well as the reunion of Daryl and Merle.  Which side will everyone turn to when it all starts to hit the fan?  I can't wait! Tonight I am drinking the winter seasonal from Sly Fox , with a fairly generic name of Christmas Ale.  That pretty much leaves this beer wide open in what could be in the can.  That's right, a can.  A Christmas Ale in a can.  I love it! Sly Fox is another in what seems tons of breweries who have recently expanded.  They've moved their production facility to Pottstown, PA.  In the larger facility, they are able to almost double their output.  I've had most of Sly Fox's canned offerings (Rte 113 IPA, Phoenix Pale Ale, Royal Weisse) and haven't been disappointed yet.   Christmas Ale Sly Fox B...
