Welcome!

Welcome to the Mould Brewhouse!  I have been thinking about starting up this blog now for a long time, and a day off from work for the Fourth of July gave me a chance to do just that!  I am going to try and use this space to keep track of the beers I drink, maybe somehow linking it with Untappd if I can, keep track of my adventures in homebrewing with pictures and recipes, and do some reviews of local liquor stores/bars/breweries in NJ and the surrounding areas!  I am going to try and keep everything beer related, unless some other things come up that I want to talk about!  Hopefully see you in the comments section, and have a happy and safe Fourth of July!

Indiana - One Year

Just a little more than one year ago, my family and I relocated to Indianapolis from New Jersey due to some changes in my full-time job.  It was a tough, yet exciting, move for us.  We quickly had to put our small, 2nd floor condo up for sale, and at the same time travel to Indianapolis to house hunt and find a neighborhood that would suit us.
The prospect of moving to an area with a completely new to me beer landscape was intriguing.  As soon as I knew for sure that my family and I were making the move to Indiana, I performed some online searches to compile a list of the breweries that were local to our new area.  A Google Map was created just for the breweries.  Facebook pages and Instagram pages were followed.

I quickly learned that Indiana isn't quite like other states I've visited where alcohol is involved.  Some of these laws astonished me!
First things first, any minor (under 21 years old) is not allowed to step foot in a liquor store.  Not even accompanied by an adult…

The Six-Pack Project: New Jersey

Welcome to the Six-Pack Project!  The idea of the project is to create a six-pack of beer that would best represent the current beer scene in your respective state.  For me, that is obviously New Jersey.  The Six-Pack Project was created by Bryan over at the This Is Why I'm Drunk blog.  Check out his introduction to the project here!

10 years ago, beer probably wasn't the first thing that came to your mind when you were thinking about New Jersey.  However, times are changing, and it's an exciting time to be a beer drinker in the Garden State.  Every year, more and more bars are starting to serve a greater variety in beer.  Even more importantly, new breweries haven been opening in NJ each year, and lots more are in planning
Today, there is a wide variety of beer brewed here in New Jersey.  Choosing six beers to best represent the state was no easy feat, but I was up for it!  Hopefully, the following will clue you in a little bit more to some of the best bottled beers tha…

In the Brewhouse with Cypress Brewing Co.

Get excited for another NJ brewery opening soon!  Cypress Brewing will be opening their doors in early July in a tucked away industrial park at 30 Nixon Lane in Edison, NJ.  They are currently prepping for their July 9th launch party at Hailey's Harp and Pub in Metuchen, NJ, and their fermentation and brite tanks are full to prove it.

For their launch, Cypress Brewing will have 10(!) beers ready for NJ beer fans to try out.  Their idea is to have something for everyone to be able to enjoy.
Hop heads can relish in three different IPAs:  a "nearly sessionable" Cypress IPA, a Cypress Double IPA and a 106 IBU "hop bomb" that is Cypress West Coast IPA.
Stout lovers will clamor over the Cypress Double Chocolate Imperial Oatmeal Stout, where at 8.8% ABV, Cypress will only sell it to you in half glasses (in their tap room, at least).

You will find a full list of their launch beers, along with brewer's descriptions, at the end of this post!

According to Cypress own…
